On Bayou Lafitte

The floating lands, folded by a storm surge,

rebounded with tides too saline

for Giant Blue Irises to thrive.

Yet these blue tenacious flowers do survive,

roots clutching at the certainty that change

is the nature of Nature, and that 
even Giant Blue Irises can rebound.
